Stuart Weitzman is doing his bit for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, having encouraged 28 of his celebrity pals to customize his signature Fever pump. The designs are now up for auction on Deprecated Browser Error, through Sept. 30.
"We planned on having 25 , but they kept coming," explains the local shoe designer of the 28 one-off creations he called in from the likes of Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria and Jessica Simpson.
"Everyone was given the same white satin pump and they really used their imagination," he says. "Blake Lively was inspired by her love of cupcakes and candy and it's quite an amazing work of art. It was only supposed to be ladies, but somehow Kiefer Sutherland snuck in with a design too."
The Fever pump features prominently in Weitzman's fall collection, currently available at his newly redesigned and reopened flagship store at 625 Madison Ave. Although he says the purple faux crocodile Fever pumps are currently this season's best sellers, he doesn't believe in one style for everyone.
"There is never one specific shoe or color that everyone should be grabbing," he says. "It's nice to have choices. A woman should always choose the shoe that puts the biggest smile on her face." -- Eloise Parker
